    Fr. Joseph Jenkins

  • The blog header depicts an important and yet mis-understood New Testament scene, Jesus flogging the money-changers out of the temple. I selected it because the faith that gives us consolation can also make us very uncomfortable. Both Divine Mercy and Divine Justice meet in Jesus. Priests are ministers of reconciliation, but never at the cost of truth. In or out of season, we must be courageous in preaching and living out the Gospel of Life. The title of my blog is a play on words, not Flogger Priest but Blogger Priest.

Cardinal Müller Gives Needed Clarification

muller

This was probably the most important interview that Arroyo ever presented on World Over. CARDINAL MÜLLER says that the “moral” is the “pastoral”… there can be no conflict… no polygamy… no sacramental spouse and another civil law spouse… the Holy Father’s document must be interpreted within the Catholic tradition. Anything else is heresy! He spells out that any accommodation that would permit the restoration of the sacramental life (without an annulment) would be a “brother” to “sister” relationship. He also said that women deacons are impossible. The biblical title was not a reference to Holy Orders. The ongoing commission is being misinterpreted. Nevertheless, he did say that we may find new non-sacramental charges for women.

One Response

  1. Cardinal Muller is a strong Traditionalist; there are few left. This pope is the antithesis. His comments on those who stand with the Traditional Church are not fit to print. We know Pope Francis is a reformer of the highest order. There are rumors flying that he wants to have some sort of non-ordained “female deacons.” There is yet another Novus Ordo under construction by a secret commission that would permit a sort of intercommunion with Protestants and the plan to transform Catholic parishes into “ecumenical communities” administered not only by priests but also Protestant ministers on the theory that their ministries possess “partial” validity. He is still our valid pope and we can only pray to the Holy Ghost that these transformations never come to fruition.

    FATHER JOE:

The Holy Father is not the antithesis of Cardinal Muller. The good cardinal is a mouthpiece for the Holy See.

While the Pope’s comments are often short and unclear, you wrong him by saying that his remarks about the faithful are not fit to print. He may not be viewed as a traditionalist, but every Pope as the head of the Magisterium is the interpreter of tradition. This authority is safeguarded by the Holy Spirit.

Rumors about non-ordained female deacons are just that, empty rumors. The discussion about women in the Church may include an investigation into the role of deaconesses in the early Church, as noted in the Bible. We know they existed but women were never ordained. Many may have simply been the wives of deacons. Others apparently took care of female neophytes preparing for baptism.

The nonsense about a further (secret) reform of the Mass that would allow the substitution of Protestant ministers for Catholic priests is a boldfaced lie and those who spread such slanderous deception have probably committed the mortal sin of calumny against the Pope. I would urge you to go to Confession as soon as possible. I have altered your name to help mitigate the public scandal you would bring upon yourself.
