    Fr. Joseph Jenkins

  • The blog header depicts an important and yet mis-understood New Testament scene, Jesus flogging the money-changers out of the temple. I selected it because the faith that gives us consolation can also make us very uncomfortable. Both Divine Mercy and Divine Justice meet in Jesus. Priests are ministers of reconciliation, but never at the cost of truth. In or out of season, we must be courageous in preaching and living out the Gospel of Life. The title of my blog is a play on words, not Flogger Priest but Blogger Priest.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS #14455

Instituted in February of 2008, the Father Michael C. Kidd Council is parish-based at Holy Family Church in Mitchellville, MD.The K of C is a fraternal organization of Catholic men that stresses responsibility and service in several areas: Church, Community, Council, Family,  Youth and Pro-Life. Their charitable work for the needy and the oppressed is well known. Our community is made all the richer because of their strong moral presence and social responsibility.

They will host a multitude of activities throughout the year. Membership is open to any practicing Catholic man, 18 years of age or older, in good standing with the Church.

Father Jenkins’ appointments for the 2013-2014 fraternal year:

  • Chaplain to Father Kidd Council
  • Faithful Friar to Bishop Walsh Assembly
  • Chaplain to Bishop McNamara Chapter
  • Associate Maryland State Chaplain

Father Jenkins has been a Knight for a quarter of a century.  He took his first and second degrees at Rock Creek Council #2797 and became a member there.  A fourth degree Knight, he was chaplain at St. Mary of the Assumption Council #9302, Dr. John Henry Griffin Council  #2293, St. Thomas More Council #11578, and St. Pius X Council #4076.
