  • The blog header depicts an important and yet mis-understood New Testament scene, Jesus flogging the money-changers out of the temple. I selected it because the faith that gives us consolation can also make us very uncomfortable. Both Divine Mercy and Divine Justice meet in Jesus. Priests are ministers of reconciliation, but never at the cost of truth. In or out of season, we must be courageous in preaching and living out the Gospel of Life. The title of my blog is a play on words, not Flogger Priest but Blogger Priest.

There are so many distractions in the modern world. Amidst all the noise and activity, the whispering voice of God still calls us to himself.

    I understand that the church needs the rich in order to survive – where else do most of their donations come from.

    Yes, Sharelife is a great organization.
    The regular sermons never touch upon anything even remotely connected to Sharelife. I think the priests don’t want all the rich people at this parish to feel guilty. Poverty – despair at unemployment. None of these things are even alluded to. As if they don’t exist.

    FATHER JOE: Share your thoughts with the pastor and the Parish Council. Volunteer to help the poor and to gather other parishioners together for important community service projects.

    I went to the Easter mass yesterday at my very rich church St.Claire of Assisi in Woodbridge, Ontario Canada. A $12 million dollar church. I am not a rich parishioner. Not once in all the years I have gone to this church have any priests ever spoken about the millions of people that are unemployed or underemployed. Not once have any priests ever spoken about the suicide epidemic amongst men. It is amazing hearing sermons on how God and Jesus love us all.
